Frequently Asked Questions

  • The consultation is a 30-minute session, available either in-person or virtually. This initial conversation is designed to help us understand your unique needs and determine if we’re a good fit for working together. The consultation is complimentary.

You can schedule a consultation by contacting the office via phone or email.

  • The assessment is an initial session designed to gather a comprehensive understanding of your relationship or individual needs.

  • Depending on whether you are seeking individual or couples counseling, I utilize a combination of Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Gottman Method, Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) and Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP). These evidence-based approaches are tailored to meet the specific needs of each individual and couple to foster deeper emotional connections in their lives and more effective communication.

  • As an Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) practitioner who is affirming of neurodivergent identities, I believe that true healing comes from honoring and embracing who you are rather than conforming to societal expectations. I recognize the challenges and potential harm that can arise from masking or striving to fit in with neurotypical norms. In our sessions, my approach will be to attune to your unique emotional experiences and needs. This might involve exploring moments when you felt pressured to conform or experienced challenges as a result of being undiagnosed. My commitment is to continually deepen my understanding of neurodivergence and to ensure that my therapeutic practice supports and validates your unique perspective and experiences.

  • Yes, I offer both in-person and virtual sessions in North Carolina and virtual sessions for clients residing in New York and Massachusetts.

  • We require at least 24 hours notice for cancellations or rescheduling. Sessions canceled with less than 24 hours' notice may be charged the full session fee.

  • I am an out-of-network provider. However, I can provide you with a superbill for clients participating in individual counseling to submit to their insurance company for potential reimbursement.

  • You are entitled to receive a "Good Faith Estimate" that outlines the expected cost of your medical care.

According to the law, healthcare providers are required to provide an estimate of the costs for medical services and items to patients who do not have insurance or are not using insurance.

    • You have the right to obtain a Good Faith Estimate for the total anticipated cost of any non-emergency services or items, which includes associated expenses such as medical tests, prescription medications, equipment, and hospital charges.

    • Ensure that your healthcare provider provides you with this written estimate at least one business day before you receive the service or item. You can also request a Good Faith Estimate from your healthcare provider or any other provider before scheduling a service or item.

    • If you receive a bill that exceeds your Good Faith Estimate by $400 or more, you have the right to contest the bill.

    • Be sure to keep a copy or photo of your Good Faith Estimate for your records. For more information or to address any questions about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises or call 800-985-3059.

  • The frequency of sessions depends on your unique needs and goals. Typically, weekly sessions are recommended at the start of therapy to build momentum and address concerns consistently. We will discuss and adjust the frequency as needed.

  • Not at all. Many people start therapy to gain deeper insight into themselves or to work through life transitions. You don’t need to have a crisis to benefit from therapy.
